Description: Titled Water Dreaming, Watson’s painting depicts a site known as Puyurru, where naturally occurring wells occasionally emerge in the usually dry creek beds. The Dreamtime story involves two Aboriginal ‘Jangala’ men (rainmakers) standing at this site, singing in the rain to unleash a giant storm. As the rain fell, the storm travelled across the country from East to West, South to North, carried in different directions by falcons, geckos, and serpents according to the Aboriginal Dreamings.
