Artist Zachias Janapangka Williams (b. 1993) comes from Yuendumu, a remote Aboriginal community in Northern Territory, Australia. Williams’ paintings often depict variations of his mother’s Ngapa Jukurrpa (Water Dreaming), Pamapardu Jukurrpa (Flying Ant Dreaming), his father’s Wandapi Jukurrpa (Goanna Dreaming), and his grandmother’s Marlu Jukurrpa (Red Kangaroo Dreaming). To depict her traditional Jukurrpa, Valerie uses traditional iconography, while developing a modern individualistic style to depict her traditional Jukurrpa.
