Michelle is an award winning, international pastel artist specialising in realism to create large scale, beautiful seascapes and underwater portraits. An emerging artist, Michelle is self taught and started painting with pastels 3 years ago. Her art explores the contrasting raw power and calm serenity of the differing states of water, and the technical challenge of capturing both its translucency and movement.
Michelle is a brand ambassador of the internationally acclaimed pastels, Unison Colour Pastels, and has collaborated with them to create the Unison Colour 36 pastel ‘Beach Set’. She has been selected to exhibit twice with the Pastel Society, at the Mall Galleries London, where she won the prestigious Annie Longley Award in 2017, and was also selected twice to exhibit in London with the international art fair, Artrooms. Michelle has had work exhibited by Contini Art UK, the prestigious Mayfair Gallery at international art fairs in Italy. In April she collaborated with the BBC1 programme Money For Nothing, where her painting Languid appeared. In May 2018 she was interviewed by Artists and Illustrators magazine where she featured with her painting Refracted I in their Fresh Paint section.
Michelle has spent her entire life near water, and now works as a full time artist, living by the river Severn in North Somerset, UK, one of the wildest and most powerful estuaries in the world. She uses only her own reference photos, and spends many hours by the pool or on the beach, photographing the ever-changing state of light and water.
