Painter Jo Shepherd is primarily interested in portraiture but often finds inspiration in the woodland landscape around her. Her second portrait of Ugandan artist ‘Ludigo’s Stories, Time Will Tell’ was selected for the 2018 Columbia Threadneedle Prize Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, and her solo portrait exhibition, celebrating people with varying disabilities, was featured on the BBC South Today news. Jo’s work is held in private collections across the UK, and she regularly exhibits her work in both solo and group exhibitions. She is also a member of Surrey Artists Open Studios, often taking part in their annual open studios event in June.
When Jo is not in the studio, she works with profoundly disabled people several times a week delivering art sessions. She also teaches drawing workshops at Walls Gallery Artist Village, Compton where she was an Artist in Residence in 2018, and runs life drawing classes in Godalming.
